Patrick Schirmer, LMFT
Clinician II, Mental Health and Wellness
Biography
Patrick Schirmer began in the School-Based Mental Health and Wellness program as a Clinician on the very first day of the program's launch. He spent three years working in San Juan Unified at an elementary school as a Clinician and now supports our program as a Clinician II. In his role as Clinician II, he supports all roles of providing the highest quality clinical services to the students and families we serve.
He began his career supporting neurodiverse youth with behavioral struggles in the home and school settings. The longer he worked with this population the more apparent it became that supporting the students and families on underlying mental health struggles beneath the behaviors was crucial in working towards wellness. Patrick became trained and certified in a wide variety of family therapy approaches as well as several trauma-informed practices and culturally sensitive practices. Patrick supports associates and the entire team in developing a creative, culturally sensitive, and family-centered lens on mental health and wellness so that we can truly serve the entirety of our community. He deeply believes that addressing mental health and wellness should always involve the community, families, and clients' voices first and foremost.
At the heart of his "why" is a commitment to creating communities that have mental health and wellness centered in all that they do.
